MarMac® Manufacturing Company, Inc. is an American private manufacturing company headquartered in McBee, South Carolina. Founded in 1953, the company specializes in civil infrastructure protection, engineering utility sealing solutions, and specialized chemical formulations. The company operates primarily through two commercial divisions: MarMac® Construction Products and MarMac® Applied Infrastructure Sciences (AIS).
The company was originally founded in 1953 by John McLeod, Sr. and J.W. “Dub” Martin, Jr. in McBee, South Carolina. Its earliest operations focused on manufacturing specialized pipe joints, known colloquially in civil construction as “grout (or pipe) diapers,” to improve sewer and water infrastructure connections.
By 1973, the firm crossed $1 million in annual revenue. In 1990, the founding families amicably restructured the business. The Martin family established a separate entity, Mar-Mac Industries (specializing in wire reinforcement products), while the McLeod family retained ownership of MarMac® Manufacturing Company. Following the restructure, MarMac® formalized its existing sealing and pipe joints segment into a dedicated construction division in 1992. In 2020, the company expanded into chemical and material sciences by establishing its Applied Infrastructure Sciences division.
Established as a formal division in 1992, MarMac® Construction Products manufactures external pipe couplers, gaskets, sealing bands, and wraps used in underground gravity-flow drainage, stormwater management, and wastewater municipal systems. The division engineers joint systems compatible with diverse infrastructure materials, including reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), corrugated steel/metal pipe (CSP/CMP), and high-density polyethylene/polypropylene (HDPE/HDPP). Its primary products include MacWrap, PolySeal, and Dissimilar Pipe Couplers.
Founded in 2020, MarMac® Applied Infrastructure Sciences is a chemical research, engineering, and formulation division. The division focuses on sustainable chemistry and architectural longevity, developing polymeric coatings, surface treatments, and concrete admixtures aimed at delaying material degradation.
In 2024, the division partnered with Microban® Products Company to co-develop Concrete Admixture AMX 5500, a specialized antimicrobial protectant designed to mitigate microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) in wastewater concrete structures.
Company founded by John McLeod, Sr. & J.W. “Dub” Martin, Jr. in McBee, South Carolina.

MarMac®'s original building was only 5,000 ft2. We've added on over the years, but are still located at 334 N 7th St, McBee, SC.

Annual revenue surpasses $1M for the first time in company history.

The families amicably divide the company. Martins form Mar-Mac Industries, while McLeods continue with MarMac Manufacturing.

Applied Infrastructure Sciences (AIS) division is established with the focus of sustainably extending the lifespan of building materials & infrastructure.
The world (and MarMac®) changed a lot over seven decades, but we remain a family-owned & operated, customer-centric, small-town company focused on making the highest quality products.

MarMac® is continually innovating existing products and develop new to keep up with the ever-changing infrastructure landscape!
