Advanced & potent corrosion-inhibiting concrete admixture

MarMacʼs AMX 5250 imparts durable biostatic activity to cementitious materials and combats corrosion and deterioration caused by bacteria and pH extremes. Simply add AMX 5250 in place of a portion of mix water when stirring fresh concrete. The admixture is non-diminishable, environmentally friendly, and perfect for sanitary sewer applications.

When tested in accordance with ASTM C1904-20 (Opt A) “for Determination of the Effects of Acidification on Concrete Antimicrobial Additives and Concrete Products”, the admixture exceeded the industry standard in impeding the effects of Microbial Induced Corrosion of Concrete (MICC).

AMX 5250 has been tested in accordance with Modified ISO 22196:2011 (JIS Z2801) Antibacterial Efficacy Testing on Construction Materials, resulting in ≥99.999% (5 log reduction) kill rate of the test bacteria after 24 hours of exposure. When tested in accordance with ASTM C1904-20 (Opt A) for Determination of the Effects of Acidification on Concrete Antimicrobial Additives and Concrete Products, AMX 5250 performed at levels no other known product has performed, indicating its capabilities to combat MICC.

AMX 5250 behaves as a barrier to colonization while also actively eradicating the undesirable microbes by rupturing the cell walls on contact. Possessing positively charged quaternary amine systems uniquely qualifies AMX 5250 as highly potent antimicrobial product designed specifically for cementitious building materials. Its activity is not lost over time and remains functional to combat the effects of MICC over the life of the infrastructure.

AMX 5250 should be stored in its original container and should always be kept covered and tightly closed when not in use. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Store in a well ventilated place. Keep in an area equipped with sprinklers when possible. Store away from incompatible materials. Do not let freeze. Do not let temperature go above 100°F if possible.

Store AMX 5250 in its original, unopened container for up to 1 year from its manufacture date. Use within 12 months after opening, while not exceeding 24 months past the date of manufacture.

Stir and/or agitate AMX 5250 thoroughly before use. Diluting AMX 5250 is not needed. The total volume of AMX 5250 used in a particular application is to be considered “mix water” and must be taken into account when calculating the total water to concrete ratio.

Approximately 122-128 fl oz is enough AMX 5250 to adequately treat 1 yd3 of concrete in most applications. For applications where a more robust ‘protectionʼ is needed, the mixtured could be increased up to 192 fl oz for 1 yd3.

Add the required quantity of AMX 5250 to your concrete while mixing. Be sure to mix the concrete an additional 5-10 minutes so that AMX 5250 is thoroughly distributed throughout the concrete mix.
